Our goal is to bring dreams to life by offering the gold standard of customer care and service, limiting our guide-to-client ratio to a maximum of 1 to 6, and providing unique glacial experiences well off the beaten path. All of our tours include an approximate 30-minute round-trip flightseeing tour over the Juneau Icefield in an A-Star helicopter. No experience is necessary for any of our excursions, and NorthStar will take care of all transportation and equipment needs.
Our adventures include:
Helicopter Glacier Walkabout (3.25 hours, ages 8+): A unique opportunity for guests of varying ages and fitness levels to get up close and personal with stunning glacier features through an hour-long, interpretive walk on the ice.
Helicopter Glacier Trek (4.25 hours, ages 12+): Hike into some of the more remote and scenic areas of the Mendenhall Glacier. This tour provides an amazing blend of scientific discovery, ice exploration, and breathtaking scenery to capture the perfect photos.
Extended Helicopter Glacier Trek (5.25 hours, ages 15+): The tour for adventure seekers who wish to maximize their time on the glacier, explore more territory, and learn basic ice climbing techniques by ascending a glacial ice fall. Participants must be in good physical condition.
Norris Glacier Dogsledding Adventure (3.25 hours, ages 2+): Experience the thrill of mushing with a professional sled team of Alaskan sled dogs across the snow-capped Juneau Icefield. Learn the tricks of the trade and master the important commands of Hike! Gee! and Haw! on a two-mile glacier dogsledding adventure.
Air, Water, and Ice: Taku Glacier Adventure by Airboat and Helicopter (3.25 hours, ages 7+): This thrilling excursion offers the chance to get up close and personal with the face of a massive glacier via high-speed airboat, and the opportunity to step onto the expansive icefield with a 10-15 minute pilot-guided glacier landing.
